SEXY FISH

MAYFAIR

There was much excitement when word spread that the people behind the hip Ivy restaurant (and the other Ivy's) where to open a new restaurant on Berkeley Square, in the middle of Mayfair late 2015. The name Sexy Fish only helped increase expectations. Now it is open - Sexy Fish is the new Asian fish and seafood restaurant for London's It-crowd. A reservation is a must to get past the scary doorman.

The outside of the restaurant is interesting with water pouring down all the windows at one of the sides, and red shades along the other side of this corner restaurant. But when inside, you quickly realise glamour and luxury is the focus of the restaurant design.

The main room on the ground floor, greets you with large sculptures such as mermaids from Damian Hirst and a huge crocodile by Frank  Gehry hanging from the ceiling or on the walls. Wow may be the right word. Behind the scarlet coloured lava stone surface bar, you yet again find the wall of falling water. The leather seating and the emerald onyx floor just adds to the luxurious feeling to the interior. Similar to that of its sister restaurant the Ivy, the decor is mid century, but with a many "over the top" design details. Some have said it's like being punched in the face by Abu Dhabi.

In the lower floor there are large private dining rooms with two of the largest live coral-reef fish tanks in the world.

The menu is Japanese, with an Asian and European influence to it. Naturally caviar, oyster and lobster are served, as well as Kobe beef. You may say that the menu is perfect for guests who never look at the final bill. A visit to Sexy Fish is definitely is an experience with its glamorous Wow factor.
