AT SEA CONTAINERS
When arriving at the Mondrian you are met by an enormous blue anchor chain, which symbolizes the history and location of the building. Mondrian is raised on the grounds of the old harbour container docks, which also explains the large curved bronze wall you meet when entering the hotel - a ship's hull. This is a stylish, but very large hotel - more than 360 rooms.
The large construction goes along the whole ground floor, from the reception past a lounge area, a bar and into the Sea Container restaurant. Large windows give you a fantastic view over the Thames and further across to the opposite side where you can see the London skyline all the way from Big Ben to the Tower of London.
The Mondrian Hotel is part of the Morgans Hotel Group together with Sanderson and St. Martins Lane. As its sister hotels, the chosen design is very stylish, but made cosy by the bamboo chairs and velvet covered sofas, crazy decorated walls, and enough gold. This is modernism with a hint of the 70's. The Sea Container open restaurant, brings us back to the Trans-Atlantic ocean lines, combining the best of the British and American cuisine, with the seasons ingredients supplied by the great Borough Market close by.
The hotel has a rooftop bar with a strict guest list policy, not open for everyone (even if you stay at the hotel, you have to persuade the concierge). Located on the South Bank, you have all the great places along the river only minutes away. So remember to step outside and enjoy the walk. More info to come when we have stayed the night.

Why book direct? (read more)
Many hotels guarantee the lowest possible rate at their own home page. In addition they often have some good extras to give to the customers that book directly. What they save on fees to the different booking sites, they now can share with the direct customers; stuff like free minibar og a bottle of wine, restaurant discounts, breakfast included, bonus stays. Check their internet site or call them to ask what they can offer.
