LOUISIANA MUSEUM OF MODERN ART, HUMLEBÆK

The famous museum at Humlebæk, half an hour drive from Copenhagen, is an oasis both for art, architecture, surroundings and books. The museums own art collection of 3000 pieces, including Warhol, Lichtenstein, Picasso, and Hockney to mention a few, can be seen here in this amazing building complex. The main entrance lies in a old, hansom villa, while the museum continues through a modern labyrinth filled with art. The park surrounding the museum faces the Øresund sea and is filled with fantastic sculptures and art installations. The cafe is a great place to sit and enjoy the view - inside or at the terrace. Back in the museum lobby there is a great museum shop with a wide range of art and design magazines and books and, a large collection of design-products that represent the latest of Scandinavian design. Louisiana has an amazing children’s area - three floors with different stations, were they can discover their own creativity with pencils, paint brushes and a large collection of yellow Lego bricks. A great effort to let the parents wander around in peace.
