If you want to do something slightly crazy and the wallet is in the right mood, then stay at the only hotel at the Shard.

Take the elevators up to the 35th floor, where you will be met by the hotel reception, some marble and a fantastic view. It is truly breathtaking.

The hotel is part of the world wide Shangri La Hotel Group, which can be seen in the interior design throughout the hotel. Without Big Ben in the background you could be fooled to think you were on the other side of the planet or halfway to the stars. The rooms are stylish and elegant with super soft silk bed linen and all the gadgets you could wish for. Even slippers for the youngest guests. In good Asian tradition, the toilet is connected with all sorts of wires, and flushes you every way you want. And warm and comfy to sit down on.

As the sun goes down, the metropolis comes alive through the large floor to ceiling windows. And naturally the room has its own pair of binocular for further enjoyment of the view or to be more nosy.

On the 52 floor lies London's highest bar, Gong. On the same floor you will find an infinity swimming pool, open all day long and until late. Try to make time to see either the sunrise or sunset while taking a dip in the pool. Or experience it from your own bed. At the 52nd floor there is also a luxurious  spa and "a Gym with a view".

The  Shangri La has two restaurants, TING (with both restaurant and lounge menus) and LANG - a ground floor coffee shop.
